Northern-development platform :

A hub for establishing relations with First-Nation communities

Traditionally viewed as a supply-centre for the Cree, Algonquins, and Inuit of the Far-North, Val-d’Or is now an unavoidable, dynamic, and diversified business-crossroads. The establishment of a trusting relationship between the chiefs of the major First-Nation communities and the business leaders of Val-d’Or, as well as with certain governmental authorities, has allowed for the creation of lasting economic-development for the Northern territories, while ensuring rewarding benefits for the local economy of Val-d’Or and the region.

Val-d’Or’s geographic location has also given it a privileged position due to the fact that a number of local trucking firms have become specialists in the delivery of goods to remote Northern territories.

Learning about the customs and traditions of First-Nation communities, through the expertise of business men and women who have worked with them and done business with them, is to become aware of how to market products and services with a more “human touch”; this will ensure that you’ll have a rewarding ongoing relationship with local First-Nation communities, well into the future.

Val-d’Or is home to one of the six (6) Native Friendship Centres in the urban centres of Québec which work in different ways with the Native population of the regions, whether they are there permanently, on a temporary basis, or are simply "passing through".
