The 11,301 lakes located within the territory of the MRC of the Valley-of-Gold, as well as the close proximity of the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve, allow amateur-fishing enthusiasts and lovers of aquatic sports to fully enjoy these pastimes. La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve is the 2nd largest Nature-preserve in the province and is managed by the Québec Association of Outdoor Establishments (SEPAQ); it has some of the best-stocked fishing areas in the entire province of Québec. Once winter arrives, the region’s majestic lakes become vast winter recreation-areas where ice-fishing opportunities abound in profusion.

You won’t be disappointed with the 13,615 km² of Northern-forest lands contained within La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve, the Capitachouane and Festubert Controlled Exploitation Zones (ZEC), the 29 local outfitters (5 of which have “exclusive rights”), and all the vast virgin-territory still remaining within the boundaries of the MRC of the Valley-of-Gold.
