Having celebrated its 50th anniversary in the year 2000, the Val-d’Or Hospital Centre, besides serving the population of the MRC of the Valley-of-Gold, is a major referral-centre for Northern Québec, the Cree territories, and the rest of Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Besides its basic specialized medical-services, the Val-d’Or Hospital Centre has a regional medical vocation in nephrology, nuclear medicine, cytopathology, hematology, transfusion medicine, pneumonology, gastroentorology, and cardiology.

Close to the community, the medical teams and experienced health-care personnel are always on the lookout for new medical techniques and make use of the latest high-tech medical equipment, notably in the departments of nuclear medicine, ophthalmology, and cardiology.
